EVENT DESCRIPTION
We are excited to announce the ‘Tamuka Children’s Coding Workshop’ in collaboration with award winning 12-year-old Femi Owolade-Coombes aka Hackerfemo (www.hackerfemo.com). The one-day event aims to bring together young children between 10 and 14 years, encouraging the Tamuka values of Connection, Collaboration and Cohesion from a young age.
The workshop will be split into 2 sessions as follows:
Workshop 1: Introduction to the Microbit
Introduction to the Microbit using interactive software. This will include scrolling their names, creating animations using loops and making a Pedometer.
Workshop 2: Microbit Robot Challenge
The second workshop builds on the Microbit earlier learnings – getting the children to work collaboratively in small groups to compete in 3 unique robot challenges using the BitBit Robot and the microbit created in the first workshop. These classic robot challenges include getting their robots to move forward, pause and get back to the starting point, getting the robot to complete a perfect square and then using the latest Computer Science teaching techniques to work out how to use the line-follower sensors.
This is an invitation for you to register a place. Spaces to this event are limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
